Our Home

This is our current home.  We purchased this house in June 2001, when our youngest son was 2 months old.

We needed a bigger house with at least one more bedroom so this house was perfect.

We have been here since and have made many changes to this house.

When we bought it, the previous owners hadn't done anything.

They hadn't painted, wallpapered, changed flooring... nothing.

They did throw up some weird looking curtains here and there.  Oh and they put up those cheap mini blinds.  Those things came down pretty quickly when we moved in.

About a month after we moved in, I got out the camera and took some photos.  Remember I had a 3 month old at the time, so I was a little busy.

The photos aren't great.  I believe I was still using a film camera and the photos have been scanned.

This is the back of the house.

We have a nice big backyard, a deck (which I love) and a full basement.

This is the entry way looking in from the front door.

To the right is the dining room

It was the very first room that I did.  I wallpapered one day when hubby was at work.

It looks nice and is still there.  (Note:  It will be coming down soon as it is 10 years old and it's time for a new look)

To the left of the entry is the formal living room.  I don't know why I didn't take any pictures of that room, but I didn't.

So, moving on to the family room.

I love my fireplace and mantle.  I love the decorating options it gives me.

I also love how the family room and kitchen/breakfast area are so open.

This is a view of the kitchen from the family room.

See how white everything is.  NO paint AT ALL!!!

I don't know how the previous owners could stand to live with no color on the walls.

We have 4 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms upstairs.

This is our oldest son't bedroom.

(No paint and ugly blinds and curtains)

This is our daughter's bedroom.

We kept the mini blinds that I hate on her windows until we could replace them with something else.  That was just so we could give her some privacy and so she wouldn't hopefully wake up at the crack of dawn every morning.

This is our youngest son's bedroom.

This is a view down the hallway to the master bedroom.

It looks so bare and plain.

This is the master bedroom.  I'm not sure why but it looks like we didn't put our bed on the frame for about a month.

It's not like we didn't have the frame cause there it sits in the corner.  Guess the kids were keeping us very busy.

This is the master bathroom.  It's still a room that we hate with a passion.  We would like to completely tear it out and redo it.  Maybe one day.

This is a view from the master bedroom down the hall, to the kids bathroom.

I had so much fun doing that dollhouse.  I never finished it and it didn't seem like I ever would, so I got rid of it.  I wish I had kept it, not that the kids are a little older and I would have a little time to work on it.

Oh well!

This is a view of the family room from upstairs.

I always hated this ledge.  I was so afraid one of the kids were going to jump off of it.  It also made it really loud upstairs when we were trying to watch tv in the family room at night.

It's fine, but we really wish that we didn't have a two-story family room and they would have used that extra {wasted} space as more bedroom space.

I guess you can't have everything.

So, that was our house when we first moved in.  I plan to add the changes we have made to every room soon.
